Paint Correction

Our 3 Stage Buffing Process Explained

1. Cutting (Stage 1 – Heavy Correction)

  • Purpose: Effectively removes deep scratches, heavy oxidation, and severe swirl marks from your vehicle’s paint surface. Process:
  • Utilizes a heavy-cut compound paired with a wool pad or aggressive foam cutting pad.
  • Performed using a rotary polisher or high-speed dual-action (DA) polisher to achieve maximum paint correction.
  • This initial stage may leave light haze or micro-marring, which is carefully polished out in subsequent refinement steps for a flawless finish.

2. Polishing (Stage 2 – Medium/Refinement)

  • Purpose: Eliminates light to moderate imperfections and refines the surface by removing haze left from cutting stages.
  • Process: Utilizes a medium-to-fine polish combined with a softer foam pad (such as orange or white).
  • Performed using a Dual Action (DA) polisher to achieve a smooth, even finish.
  • Restores clarity, boosts gloss, and preps the surface for final finishing or protection application.

3. Finishing (Stage 3 – Ultra-Refinement)

  • Purpose: Removes any remaining micro-marring and enhances surface clarity to achieve maximum gloss before applying protective coatings.
  • Process: Utilizes an ultra-fine finishing polish paired with a soft foam pad (typically black or blue).
  • Performed with a low-speed dual-action (DA) polisher or carefully by hand for a flawless, mirror-like finish.
  • Prepares the surface to be perfectly smooth, ensuring optimal bonding for ceramic coatings, waxes, or sealants.
